I’m taking part in the 99k for Canines with Dogs Trust this February!

I’m making a positive start to 2025 by joining the Dogs Trust 99k for Canines challenge! I will be walking 99km throughout the month of February to raise money for all the dogs in their care.

The aim of Dogs Trust is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. In 2023, they were able to successfully rehome over 9,000 dogs and cared for a total of 11,464 dogs (including those through their Ukraine quarantine scheme as well as police dogs working at the Commonwealth Games!). With your help Dogs Trust hope to continue helping more dogs in 2025 as the need for their services increases with the current cost of living crisis.

My Updates

Day28 part2 (28th feb)

We managed to get our for one last short walk around our local park to finish off our 99K and got to see a lovely sunset.
So tomorrow we can start our 100K for sands challenge.

Day28 (28th feb)

We managed 5.68 miles with my mum, turbo and Jax, we did the ladybower circular and weather was lovely.

Day27 (27th feb)

We managed a short 1.63 miles while I popped into EE for phone upgrade.

Day26 (26th feb)

We did a couple laps of our local park but phone died half way through, we got caught in the rain/hail stone but got to see a double rainbow so was worth it! Before my phone died we managed 1.14 miles.

Day22 (22nd feb)

Day22 saw us do 7.22 miles along rivelin valley nature trail, it was such a beautiful day out. The weather was so nice. We only have 19kms left to do!! Very surprised we've gotten this far due to the amount of days missed due to the weather/personal life but proud we've stuck to it. Got a couple walks planned for this week in-between appointments and baby groups so we will definitely hit the target by the end of this challenge.

Day19 (19th feb)

We did 4.64 miles upto wath woods and back, was a very muddy walk but turbo got go climb some trees

Day16

Due to so many days off we did a small shopping trip down in hillsborough and managed to bag 3.22 miles to add to our total.

Day14-Day16

More rest days due to weather.

Day14 (14th Feb)

We did a 4.16 mile walk around Langsett Reservoir with some lovely views.

Day9-day 14

Rest days/busy days.

Day9

We are currently having a chill day after such a long day yesterday. Will catch up on miles tomorrow.

Day8

Me, Jaxon and Turbo got together with the GSHC lot and had an amazing walk around Derwentwater, Keswick. Had beautiful company and absolutely beautiful views all around. Then drove 3.5hrs home. We managed to log 10.18 miles, our longest one with little one! So proud of ourselves.

Day7 (7th feb)

Only 2.69 miles logged from my venture to see Jordan for my hair doing then we had a long (nearly 4hr) drive upto the lake district.

Day6

Today we managed 4.24 miles consisting of our walk to the breastfeeding support group, shops to get some lunch then went home to get Turbo and had a quick lap of the local park to let her have a good run around.

Day5 (part2)

Another 2.1 to add to the tally, with another short walk around our local area to make up for the missed miles yesterday.

Day5 (part1)

2.77 miles to start our day off before baby group. We did a couple laps of our local park again as its easy to do with the pram so little one could have his morning/early afternoon nap. Now home time for some lunch.
We will get out again later today before tea to make up the missing miles from yesterday.

Day4 (4th feb)

Unfortunately no activity to log as we had a super busy day of activities and driving about. But Jax had a wonderful play date with his little friend JJ.

Day3

Today we only did a short 2 miles consisting of 2 laps of our local park to let Turbo stretch her legs and have a good run about. I was hoping for more milage but we have things to do this afternoon after a busy morning.

Day2

Day 2 saw us back in one of our favourite places, the Peak District, we took a circular route up+across Derwent Edge overlooking Ladybower, the route we took was steep and rocky but definitely worth it. The weather was brilliant and the views was magnificent. To say it was a Sunday, it was pretty quiet up on the tops. Another 4.37 miles added to the tally!

Day1

Had a lovely short walk (2 laps) of Wath Lake to kick off our 99k. Myself and Turbo have done lots of walking fundraisers in the past and I thought this would be a good challenge to start our walking journey back off after over a year off due to pregnancy and childbirth. We will be taking the days and routes steady as I go through the rest of my recovery from childbirth 7 months ago. If we miss a day we will catch up the miles missed, on the following day. I look forward to our adventures as a trio going forward and beyond this challenge. We did 2.81 miles for the tally to start us off.
