99k for Canines 2025

My target 99 kms

I’m taking part in the 99k for Canines with Dogs Trust this February!

I’m making a positive start to 2025 by joining the Dogs Trust 99k for Canines challenge! I will be walking 99km throughout the month of February to raise money for all the dogs in their care.

The aim of Dogs Trust is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. In 2023, they were able to successfully rehome over 9,000 dogs and cared for a total of 11,464 dogs (including those through their Ukraine quarantine scheme as well as police dogs working at the Commonwealth Games!). With your help Dogs Trust hope to continue helping more dogs in 2025 as the need for their services increases with the current cost of living crisis.

My Updates

Almost There!!

Morning everyone, I haven’t been updating the page this week because all my free time evaporated but we've still kept a record of our distance with our pedometers 🫶✨️ We're now at a whopping 93km!!! We're on course to complete the challenge within a week or two! And thanks to all of our donations, we've raised an extra £33 on top of our goal: £132 🧡 You're all the best! x

So... funny story -

It turns out that Fi has been measuring her distance in miles, not kilometres 🙈 Not a problem, I've adjusted our activity logs and... we've passed the halfway mark 49.5km! Our distance adds up to 57km but Dogs Trust round the km up or down to whole numbers, so "officially" we've only done 52km, but I'm happy regardless! Well done, us 🫶

9 Feb: We're 1/3 through!

We've hit 35km so we are officially past the 1/3 mark (33), and only 10km to go until we make it halfway through the challenge 🧡 Thank you everyone for your support!

4 Feb: Evening

Only managed two short walks today because we were both working, so our 2km add up to a total 20km so far. 79 km to go!

3 Feb: Morning

Mattie sat this big walk out and opted for a short 0.88km this morning with Fi, so I took a solo walk. I wasn't sure where to go but it became apparent once I hit the linkway that I would end up in Sutton Manor. I wanted to visit Dream but had to call it a day as I have some appointments this afternoon - but I'll definitely take Mattie there one day this month (and we'll go in the car so that we can stay out as long as possible)!

2 Feb: Slowing down a little

Our dog sitter got in touch today and let us know that Mattie gave her some evils when she suggested he get his bum up off the couch and take a leak in the garden. Don't take it out on her! I'm going to give dear Matthew a break tomorrow from the long walks just to make sure he keeps enjoying it and it doesn't become a chore for him, but I'll keep adding to the count myself ☺️

We walked 4.3km total today!

1 Feb: The Lowdown

Cracking start! We've had our two daily walks and we've covered 5.92km! Smashed my humble target and exceeded my expectations for the first day. Matthew the Couch Lump might regret signing up... 🐾

Today, we covered Rainhill & Whiston! 1hr 28m on first walk, only 17m on second walk before Matt wanted to head back home. Weekly video is up 👍 Check back next week for another one in a new place 🧡

Nightcrawler, literally

We weren't out for long as Mattie's poor legs were walked off him this morning, so we had an easy nighttime stroll. First day - in the bag.

The Beginning

Our first morning walk for the challenge! Matthew is still out cold at 4.45pm - it may just be me out on the evening walk...
