I’m taking part in the 99k for Canines with Dogs Trust this February!
I’m making a positive start to 2025 by joining the Dogs Trust 99k for Canines challenge! I will be walking 99km throughout the month of February to raise money for all the dogs in their care.
The aim of Dogs Trust is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. In 2023, they were able to successfully rehome over 9,000 dogs and cared for a total of 11,464 dogs (including those through their Ukraine quarantine scheme as well as police dogs working at the Commonwealth Games!). With your help Dogs Trust hope to continue helping more dogs in 2025 as the need for their services increases with the current cost of living crisis.

My Updates

Finished!!!!
Day 28 and the last 3km are finished. A lovely walk on a gloriously sunny day with thee birds singing. We'll be continuing the adventures as we've had so much fun. Thanks to everyone who sponsored us in this
Day 25
Only managed 2km yesterday, so it had to be a 4km walk today at Cromwell Bottoms to make sure we hit target. Only 3 days left!
Day 23- back to the Dam
Took the dogs and all 3 girls over to Newmillerdam this afternoon. It kept trying to rain and the wind was a bit wild, but we were pretty much sheltered by the trees. 6km done and back home with 2 very muddy dogs
Day 20.
Back on it today as yesterday was written off due to a flat tyre. Car all sorted out, but no walk by the time it was sorted. 4km done on the canal on lunch as in the office today
YSP
A beautiful but cold day out at Yorkshire Sculptue Park with the dogs. I could have gone further, but Ruby was at her maximum distance, and the walk back uphill wiped her our. Both dogs now fast asleep
Back to the Bottoms
Cromwell Bottoms that is! A perfect day for a walk so long as you keep the pace up to stay warm. Photos added to the gallery, but both dogs were muddy but happy
Sunday lunch walk
Another work say lunchtime dog walk. The sun's out, but it's soooo cold. 2km done
Day 15
No kids around today, so just me and the dogs off to Rords Park on my lunch break. A lovely walk, but this weather's really not playing ball
Day 14-halfway there!
Half the time and half the distance achieved today! 2k done with the dogs at the park bringing the total to 50km done!
Canal walk
Another lovely lunchtime walk in Leeds with work colleagues today, and the rain held off!
Day 12
And the weather continues grey and wet, but we still persevere. 2km done today at Crow Nest Park in between showers. At least thee was less mud than yesterday
Newmillerdam
An early walk today so my daughter can be back in time to go to work. A lovely day for a long walk, and it only started raining on the way back to the car. 5.6km done, 2 very tired and muddy dogs to take home
Unhappy hounds
The weather is grim, and the dogs are less than impressed. Only 2km today, and that was with me having to drag them both off the sofa! Let's hope tomorrow's a better day
Sunday stroll in the rain
Only 2km done today, but it's a cold and wet day. Up to the local park again to see the ducks
Day 8
Another walk in my lunch break. This time it was up to Crow Nest Park with the twins and dogs. It's a bit chilly out there today, even the dogs had coats on
Day 7
Local walk today as I'm working, so on to Roy's Park and back on my lunch break. 3km walked
Office day
Thursday is an in the office work day, but at lunch we have the Thursday walk/run club. Just under 4km done along the canal. The twins are keeping the dogs active at home
Bandanna!
They arrived today, so photos posted of the dogs out and about on the canal in Brighouse wearing them. 5.5 km walked today
Day 4 part 2
A quick trip to Crow Nest Park with 3 of the kids after picking my son up from work
CB nature reserve
Day 4 and back to Cromwell Bottoms. We followed the nature reserve route today, so a river, canal, still water lake, and boggy ponds. Well marked parhs on this one, so not too muddy
Cromwell Bottoms
Day 3 walk was in a new place, as I've heard if Cromwell Bottoms but never been. The weather is lovely, there are swans on the canal, and the mud's drying up. The dogs are sleeping it off.
Day 2...mud!
Just back from a 4km walk with the dogs in Dewsbury Country Park. It's a lovely walk with ponds, ditches, hills and woodland, but I had forgotten about the mud. The dogs will have tea and then sleep for the rest of the day. Filthy, the pair of them!
