99k for Canines 2025

I’m taking part in the 99k for Canines with Dogs Trust this February!

I’m making a positive start to 2025 by joining the Dogs Trust 99k for Canines challenge! I will be walking 99km throughout the month of February to raise money for all the dogs in their care.

The aim of Dogs Trust is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. In 2023, they were able to successfully rehome over 9,000 dogs and cared for a total of 11,464 dogs (including those through their Ukraine quarantine scheme as well as police dogs working at the Commonwealth Games!). With your help Dogs Trust hope to continue helping more dogs in 2025 as the need for their services increases with the current cost of living crisis.

Pandemic puppies & XL bullies

Wednesday 1st Jan
As a veterinary nurse working in GP, it was made obvious in 2024 that rescue centres were struggling more than ever before. The influx of both troublesome pandemic puppies now of a certain age, the XL bully ban and the cost of living crisis is forcing people to give up their animals and there’s nowhere for them to go. People continue to buy puppies, therefore people continue to breed puppies. Our rescue centres are full and people are left with limited options, forcing more people to lean towards abandonment or euthanasia. The Dogs Trust needs funds to be able to support new projects, emergency treatment funds and the general care of their teams and animals. We’re all struggling but every little helps 🙏
