I’m taking part in the 99k for Canines with Dogs Trust this February!

I’m making a positive start to 2025 by joining the Dogs Trust 99k for Canines challenge! I will be walking 99km throughout the month of February to raise money for all the dogs in their care.

I adopted Blue, a German Shepherd Husky cross, and Keita, a Shar Pei Akita cross, from Dogs Trust (DT) in January 2022. They were a bonded pair of golden oldies – aged 12 and 11 – and it was love at first sight for me! Blue crossed the rainbow bridge in October 2023 but DT helped so much, particularly with Blue’s weekly hydrotherapy sessions. He loved to sing songs and jump around in circles at dinner time. Keita bounces around when she wants a walk and barks at water, she loves affection and her belly rubs! Oh and of course food and her walks! She is a real gentle beauty. 

Although I had early heartbreak with Blue it was so rewarding adopting an older underdog, because I knew I was helping a dog that might have been overlooked because of his age or health. 

My Aunt & Uncle also adopted the most precious little girl from DT, Bonnie. Such a happy lady! 

All they want is love, which is all they want to give to you. That is why I am fundraising for Dogs Trust, to support an organisation that I love, that protects our dogs, helps people in times of need like the Freedom project and to help support the preventative, education objectives of DT. Thank you for everything you do!

The aim of Dogs Trust is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. In 2023, they were able to successfully rehome over 9,000 dogs and cared for a total of 11,464 dogs (including those through their Ukraine quarantine scheme as well as police dogs working at the Commonwealth Games!). With your help Dogs Trust hope to continue helping more dogs in 2025 as the need for their services increases with the current cost of living crisis.
