I’m running 100 Miles in October with Dogs Trust!
This October, I'm challenging myself to run 100 miles for Dogs Trust. Every mile I complete will help raise vital funds for dogs in need.
My own Dogs Trust dog, Patty, will be joining me as we also celebrate her 8th Adoption Anniversary this October.
Patty started life as a stray in Ireland. She was found by Dogs Trust. Although she was rehomed, she didn't fully understand how to be a pet and was not your traditional lap dog, excited when you got home and jumping up for cuddles. They sent her back.
In October 2018, I saw her sweet face on the Dogs Trust website. She was an underdog. She needed to go to a home with another dog who could build her confidence. Patty LOVES dogs.
So, my spoilt, only child rescue dog Jack and I went to see her. She was a blurry back dot doing laps of the meeting field perimeter. We kept going back. I got to give her a small pat on the head and she briefly smiled up at me whilst dashing along on our first walk on a lead.
On October 9th 2018, she came home.
She adored her big brother Jack and he taught her about naps and begging for food and stretching out on the sofa. They had 5 and a half years together before he crossed the rainbow.
Since then, she has become an independent woman and continues to thrive. In 2025, at 14 and a half years old she scaled Wansfell Pike in the Lake District. We spend our weekends going to fun dog shows where she's won a whole host of rosettes and even some Best In Shows!
Now at 15 and a half she is still a fun loving, adventurous girl.
100 miles is nothing to her but with her senior years she does have enforced rest days put upon her so she may not be joining me for all of them, BUT, she will have her own side quest.
100 Rolls in October!
Patty loves rolling around, and I'll be documenting 100 of them throughout the month.
It is the biggest privilege to be her person and have earned her trust. She shows love in her own unique ways if you only take the time to look. The same goes for all the dogs still waiting - give them a chance and they will truly surprise you.
Last year, Dogs Trust cared for 11,707 dogs across the UK and Ireland, rehomed 9,914 dogs, and helped deliver nearly one million meals to dogs in need through Fareshare foodbanks.
Your support helps them continue this vital work. The work of Dogs Trust is only possible with donations like yours.
Thank you for helping us reach our goal ☘️
