The Story
Thursday 12th SepHello everyone, this year for Sam’s birthday in October we are going to raise money for Dogs trust. Oliver has decided to take part in the Paw Patrol on a Stroll, we will walk from our house to the lighthouse and back (10k)… thats a very long distance for a 3yo!
For those who don’t know Sam started having seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy in December 2023. We’ve been managing this with him for 10 months with Sam being on daily medication 3 times a day for 6 months.
Every time a dog has an epileptic seizure which lasts over 5 minutes there is a 25% mortality rate, Sam has between 1-2 of these per month which last between 5-8minutes in length and causes a 40-60% reduction in life span.
The reason we are doing this for dogs trust and not an epileptic charity is because dogs are the most commonly abandoned animal in the uk with over 8000 every year, this is mostly due to medical reasons that owners will not pay for.
