I’m taking part in the 99k for Canines challenge with Dogs Trust!

I’m making a positive start to 2026 by joining the Dogs Trust 99k for Canines challenge! I will be walking 99km throughout the month of February to raise vital funds for the dogs in their care.

The aim of Dogs Trust is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners.

Last year, they cared for 11,707 dogs across the UK and Ireland, rehomed 9,914 dogs, and helped deliver nearly one million meals to dogs in need through Fareshare foodbanks.

Your support helps them continue this vital work, especially as the cost of living crisis adds increased pressures for dog owners. The work of Dogs Trust is only possible with donations like yours. If you’re able to make a small contribution, I know they’d be incredibly grateful – and so would the dogs!

Thank you.

My Updates

Dog walking with the Grandchildren - 22nd Feb

Dog walk in the fields with the grandchildren today, Scout was very well behaved and loved the wind blowing her ears, didn't bark at any dogs and fun had by all. A giant poodle that looked more like a Llama showed some interest so we made a quick exit.

Woodland Glade & Football - 21st Feb

Another early morning 6.17am dog walk, then a walk in the muddy woods at Woodland Glade, home for dog bathing and this afternoon a walk to the footie - we won Huddersfield 2  Barnsley 1.  Evening dog walk.

Cannon Hall, Cawthorn & Local dogwalking - 20th Feb

Up at 6.10am for an early morning dog walk with Scout who we are looking after for the week, then a visit to Cannon Hall and met Lee for a sunny walk around the grounds. Scout took a liking for the geese but we kept her well clear - think the geese might have won!  Evening dog walk around Quarmby.

Yorkshire - Linthwaite to Slaithwaite - 19th February

Lots of canal boats moored up, plenty of ducks and a visit to the antiques shop in Slaithwaite and 2 charity shops - what more could you want (Ian would say a pub!).
Looking after our friends dog now so an evening stroll armed with poo bags.

Yorkshire - 17th Feb & 18th Feb

Ian and I took a walk in the fields near where we live, 2 degrees, nice and crisp on the 17th.
I did a canal walk today - saw squirrels, horses, sheep and lots of dog walkers.

Yorkshire - Local Walk - 16th Feb

Weather good so walked from Ainley top to Salendine Nook and then back home - nice sunny crisp day.

France - River walk - 15th Feb

Final day in France and a walk by the babbling stream through the woods.

France - St Jean D'Alpes to Le Biot - 14th Feb

Went bowling and then the mountain cable car and lunch on the mountain, then the spa and then a 4.5km stroll back from St Jean D'Alpes to le Biot - great day.

France -Le Gets - 13th Feb

The lovely ski town of Le Gets - walking in the snow.

France - St Jean D'Alpes - 12th Feb

Sunny day and blue skies, walked to the next village St Jean D'Alpes - beautiful snow-topped mountain. Stopped at a Cafe which spectacular views, great coffee.

France - Le Biot - 11th Feb

Very rainy so did a walk to a farm and then through the woods, then back into the lovely village of Le Biot which has an amazing bakery, excellent cheese shop, great pub/hotel and a ski shop.  The villagers are very welcoming and the graveyard has excellent mountain views.

France - Montriond Lake - 10th Feb

Arrived in the French Alps to stay with friends on the 10th and in the afternoon went for a beautiful snowy walk around Lake Montriond. The Lake was frozen over and people dig holes and go ice-swimming - needless to say I didn't try it! Air so fresh and clean.

Hollingworth Lake - 9th Feb

Lovely walk around Hollingworth Lake, Littleborough, Lancs. Lots of geese and ducks (and mud).

Diggle to Uppermill Canal Walk - 8th Feb

8th Feb did a lovely canal walk with Ian from Diggle to Uppermill, even the sun came out. Stopped at a nice little cafe by the canal side and then a wander around Uppermill.

Quarmby walk - 6th Feb

Walked from our house through the fields and woods, birds were chirping, rain falling, few squirrels about.

Bronte Country

Set off in the car to drive to Haworth, home of the Bronte sisters with the intention of walking the 3 miles to the Bronte waterfall which is a nice walk normally with lots of dog walkers out.  Today was different - there was no-one on the path, the mist was down, just me and the sheep. It was a bit eery. (Vivid imagination). I can see what inspired Wuthering Heights.  Drove to Haworth and had a potter in the town, very quiet as everyone huddled in the pubs and cafes.

Cromwell Bottom, Brighouse - 4th Feb

Lovely canal walk at Cromwell Bottom - saw a  beautiful Kingfisher, swans, ducks and geese - and a man with a cat on his back! Only in Brighouse.

Baitings Reservoir - 3rd Feb

Went to Baitings reservoir, it was 0 degrees and misty, water very choppy. Only people apart from me were dog walkers, 2 huskies looking warm and a poor sausage door looking frozen! It was only 2kms but as I'd gone dressed in a furry coat I didn't go round twice.

Milnesbridge to Linthwaite - Canal Walk - 2nd Feb

Walked by the canal from Milnesbridge to Linthwaite, saw 3 herons, some coots, mallards and moorhens. It was 6 degrees and rainy but a good walk.
Realised I've lost the bobble off my hat at Dovestones.

Dovestones Reservoir - 1st Feb

Lynn's Doggie Fundraiser

Throughout February I will be walking 99k in Yorkshire and beyond for a brilliant charity, aiming to help to rescue, provide food and vet care and rehoming, and to care for dogs who cannot be re-homed.
I started today with a gentle walk around Dovestones Reservoir near Holmfirth.
