I’m taking part in the 99k for Canines challenge with Dogs Trust!

I’m making a positive start to 2026 by joining the Dogs Trust 99k for Canines challenge! I will be walking 99km throughout the month of February to raise vital funds for the dogs in their care.

The aim of Dogs Trust is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners.

Last year, they cared for 11,707 dogs across the UK and Ireland, rehomed 9,914 dogs, and helped deliver nearly one million meals to dogs in need through Fareshare foodbanks.

Your support helps them continue this vital work, especially as the cost of living crisis adds increased pressures for dog owners. The work of Dogs Trust is only possible with donations like yours. If you’re able to make a small contribution, I know they’d be incredibly grateful – and so would the dogs!

Thank you.

My Updates

Update

This challenge has been going well!! I haven’t been posting a lot on socials or updates on here since the start of the month. This is because I haven’t found I prefer to do updates every few days rather than every day. If you can please keep donating we are one day behind on our walking goal! However we have very nearly hit our target in donations! Thank you!

99K FOR CANINES

From a young age, I was introduced to the incredible work of Dogs Trust, and it’s a charity that has stayed close to my heart ever since. Growing up around animals, I quickly learned how important is it to protect, care for, and stand up for those who cannot speak themselves. Dogs Trust does exactly that - and so much more.

Dogs Trust is the UKs largest dog welfare charity, caring for thousands of dogs every year. They rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs that have been abandoned, mistreated, neglected or simply fallen on hard times. They also provide vital education, community outreach and preventative programs to ensure dogs and their owners receive the support they need to live happy, healthy lives. Their mission is simple but powerful “a world where all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.”

Now as a university student studying veterinary nursing, my passion for animal welfare has only grown stronger. Every day, I’m learning more about animal health, care and wellbeing and it constantly reminds me why charities like Dogs Trust are so essential. My dream is to dedicate my life to helping animals in any way possible, whether that’s through clinical care, rehabilitation or community education. This fundraiser is my way of turning passion into action.

99K for Canines isn’t just a challenge for me it’s commitment. It represents my determination to raise awareness, funds, and hope for dogs who desperately need it. Every donation will directly help Dogs Trust continue their life saving work, providing shelter, medical treatment, food, training and love to dogs waiting for their forever homes.

Therefore, to achieve 99k in the 28 days of February, I’ll be setting myself a daily manageable distance and staying consistent throughout the challenge. I’ll be fitting these walks in around my university schedule, choosing to walk instead of using transport where ever possible. Some days will be tougher than others, especially alongside my studies but I am determined to push through and stay committed. Tracking my distance if possible and sharing updates with you on here and over on socials will help keep me accountable. I know that Eve du kilometre I walk helps support dogs in need and will give me the motivation to keep going.

Why I am personally doing this challenge:
- to give vulnerable dogs a second chance at life.
- to support a charity that has always been inspiring to me.
- to contribute positively while training to become a veterinary nurse.
- to raise awareness about responsibility dog ownership and animal welfare.

How can you help:
Your donation - no matter how big or small - truly makes a difference. Even the smallest contribution can help provide warmth, comfort, medical care, and hope to dogs in need. By supporting this fundraiser, you’re  not just donating money - you’re helping change lives.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read, share and support 99K for Canines. Together we can make a real difference for dogs everywhere.
