I’m taking part in the 99k for Canines with Dogs Trust this February!

I’m making a positive start to 2024 by joining the Dogs Trust 99k for Canines challenge! I will be walking 99km throughout the month of February to raise money for all the dogs in their care.

The aim of Dogs Trust is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. In 2022, they were able to successfully rehome over 9,000 dogs and cared for a total of 11,464 dogs (including those through their Ukraine quarantine scheme as well as police dogs working at the Commonwealth Games!). With your help Dogs Trust hope to continue helping more dogs in 2024 as the need for their services increases with the current cost of living crisis.

End of the road

Friday 29th Mar
Well today is the last day of my Fundraiser for the Dogs Trust. Manage to complete my 99km in the first 14 days of Feb and kept going throughout Feb and March and now raised over £200 and done over 226km. Thanks to all of my sponsers and my walking partner Willow for all her hard graft over the last 2 months. Wish everyone continued success and to all my sponsers for the generous donations. No matter the weather, keep smiling and stay safe :)

99km done

Thursday 15th Feb
I know I had a month to do this challenge but I had set my own goal of 2 weeks and although tough at times, I managed to complete after a 22km total walk yesterday. Will keep going and thanks to all my support from my family and to all my sponsors for their generosity to a worthwhile and very deserving cause.

day 4

Sunday 4th Feb
rain, rain, rain but at least the winds dropped down met a few walkers with dogs, willows close training paying off, no barking or jumping to play haha. very relaxed walk and we both got 20km under our belt in 3 days which is superb effort on her behalf x

day 3

Saturday 3rd Feb
another windy day, met alot of dog walkers and joggers, willow was a star, stayed focused on her walk and not trying to run after them to play haha

day 2

Friday 2nd Feb
me and willow started our walk today in what would become a very windy day. rain stayed off but it was very cool so kept both our temperatures down for most of it. most was flat but ended on a bit of a hill. met a few dogs on route and willow was a gem! end of the hours walk and willow and we were both tired. willow had some water then straight for a nap!

A bit of history

Thursday 1st Feb
Im doing this in memory of our black lab Megan who passed away in 2008 aged 14. My wife had her since she was a puppy and we all grew to love her over the years.
We now are blessed with a 2 year old German Shepherd called Willow to join our family of 2 ragdoll cats, Cora and Hope :) Its quite the menagerie :)

1st Day

Thursday 1st Feb
Started my first day of the challenge today, weather was cool, which wa helpful :) Tried to avoid as many hills as possible today but as i progress will push that bit harder.
