I’m taking part in the 99k for Canines with Dogs Trust this February!
I’m making a positive start to 2024 by joining the Dogs Trust 99k for Canines challenge! I will be walking 99km throughout the month of February to raise money for all the dogs in their care.
I work at a dog rescue kennel and have personally witnessed some awful cases of abandoned and stray dogs. Some situations have brought me to tears. We really do rely on constant donations from the public; that being food, blankets or cash donations. A full vet check up for a single dog alone costs £25-£50.
I will be walking 99km with my Border Collie mixbreed, Odin, and my rescued stray crossbreed, Ellie.
The aim of Dogs Trust is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. In 2022, they were able to successfully rehome over 9,000 dogs and cared for a total of 11,464 dogs (including those through their Ukraine quarantine scheme as well as police dogs working at the Commonwealth Games!). With your help Dogs Trust hope to continue helping more dogs in 2024 as the need for their services increases with the current cost of living crisis.
If you do not have any money to spare, please consider buying a couple cans of dog food on your next shop and donate to your local rescue kennels. Kennels will also accept used towels, duvets, blankets, and anything that could be used as bedding. Some kennels can even come to you to pick up second-hand washing machines, dryers, and fridges. <!--/data/user/0/com.samsung.android.app.notes/files/clipdata/clipdata_bodytext_240101_181401_620.sdocx-->
