I’m taking part in the 99k for Canines with Dogs Trust this February in memory of my beautiful boy Shay

I’m making a positive start to 2024 by joining the Dogs Trust 99k for Canines challenge! I will be walking 99km throughout the month of February to raise money for all the dogs in their care.

The aim of Dogs Trust is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. In 2022, they were able to successfully rehome over 9,000 dogs and cared for a total of 11,464 dogs (including those through their Ukraine quarantine scheme as well as police dogs working at the Commonwealth Games!). With your help Dogs Trust hope to continue helping more dogs in 2024 as the need for their services increases with the current cost of living crisis.

Walkies

Saturday 17th Feb
Seamus loved his walkies with his human whether it be a walk in the woods where his favourite pastime was to  sniff out acorns and if the were still attached to a branch even better as he would pull every single one one off with relish, tail wagging, tongue lolling out and a massive smile on his face, and then so proud of himself that he taught them a lesson move on to find the next one!  On the beach he whereas his doggy friends would be in their element swimming oh no  not Shay , he would running around trying to drink up as much of the water as he could, selective hearing on being told by his human not to,  then poorly all the way home until the next time.  A rescue dog that was found as a stray he became a huge part of our  family even though in the beginning everything was a threat to him, it was obvious he had never lived inside!  Though it didn’t take him long to discover the joy of sofa surfing and getting cuddles, He was vocal in letting you know when he thought it was treat time, not a straight forward bark for shay but a howl that sounded as though he was talking to you… having to take twigs, leaves, sticklebacks, food from him constantly as he had the type of fur that anything and everything stick to it!  I miss him and his huge personality , one of a kind enormously and I am thankful and privileged to have been in his life to have loved him and have his love unconditionally.
