Great North Run 2025

I’m running the Great North Run for Dogs Trust!

Watching the Great North Run is one of my earliest memories. My family would gather every year to cheer on runners near my house and have fun spotting our favourite costumes. Ever since I have wanted to race it myself, just like my dad did.

While half marathons are commonplace for many in my circle, unfortunately, as a hyper-mobile, chronic pain girlie, running has been notoriously tricky for my body to cope with. I didn’t run at all between the ages of 19 and 24 because of uncontrollable knee pain. At 28 I fractured my femur training for this same race, and now forever have a big ol’ pin and screws in it. I’ve worked incredibly hard and with the support of amazing physios, coaches, and our wonderful NHS, and after a vast amount of consistency and small incremental gains, I believe (hope) Im strong enough to cross the finish line in 2025.

I’m honoured to be raising money for Dogs Trust, who have given me so much by reigniting my passion for veterinary medicine as a profession. I am particularly excited to donate all funds raised specifically towards the Dogs Trust Outreach team.

Freedom is a specialist fostering service that fosters dogs belonging to people experiencing domestic abuse, enabling them to flee knowing their dog is safe from abuse too. Freedom take care of all expenses and veterinary needs until owners are settled and ready to be reunited with their best friend.

Homelessness rates in the UK are forever rising, currently standing at the highest on record. Together Through Homelessness provides veterinary funding support for dogs belonging to owners experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness, and for whom pet care has become impossibly difficult. This is a lifeline that for many keeps dogs and families together, and for some people in the darkest of places, ensures they still have their waggy-tailed reason to get up in the morning by their side.

These projects are two that I am daily proud to work alongside, and am incredibly passionate about. I can say confidently, first hand, that the impact they have is immense. I hope I am able to raise lots of donations to help these wonderful dogs and their owners.

Thank you for reading and I hope you might consider a small donation (no judgement on how small) towards this cause close to my heart. In return I promise to train hard, look after my body and not break any bones this time!
