I'm running the Reading Half Marathon for dogs in need by fundraising on behalf of Dogs Trust
I’m helping raise money for dogs in need by fundraising on behalf of Dogs Trust.
The aim of Dogs Trust is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners. In 2023, they were able to successfully rehome over 10,000 dogs and cared for a total of 13,375 dogs (including over 300 Underdogs who had been with Dogs Trust for more than 6 months). With your help, Dogs Trust can continue helping more dogs in 2024 as the need for their services increases with the current cost of living crisis.
The work of Dogs Trust is only possible with support like yours, if you’re able to make a small contribution, I know they’d be extremely grateful – and so would the dogs!
Thank you.

Reading Half Marathon Complete!

My why.

I’ve always believed that dogs exist to be loved and to give love. They don’t ask for much—just care, companionship, and a place to belong. And yet, too many find themselves abandoned, confused, and in need of a second chance. That’s why, as I train for my half marathon, I’ve chosen to support Dogs Trust—to help give these animals the future they deserve.
My bond with dogs started early. My first, Toby, was a former police sniffer dog who needed a home. He had given his working years to service, yet when that chapter ended, he needed someone to take care of him. Now, I live with Brodie who’s like a younger brother to me—a daily reminder of the joy and loyalty dogs bring into our lives.
The difference between them and the dogs in shelters? Nothing, except circumstance. That’s what gets me. A dog doesn’t understand why they’ve been left behind. They don’t rationalize heartbreak. They just wait, hoping someone will come back for them. That’s why the work Dogs Trust does is so important—because they step in when no one else does. They provide food, shelter, and care, but more importantly, they offer these dogs hope.
So, during the Reading Half, every step is for them. For the ones still waiting. For the ones who deserve a second chance. And if supporting Dogs Trust means helping even one dog find their way home, then this run will have been more than worth it.
