I’m taking part in the 99k for Canines challenge with Dogs Trust!

I’m making a positive start to 2026 by joining the Dogs Trust 99k for Canines challenge! I will be walking 99km throughout the month of February to raise vital funds for the dogs in their care.

I'll be walking alongside our dog Dylan and in loving memory of Harley our loyal, loving, and characterful dog.

The aim of Dogs Trust is to give stray and abandoned dogs a second chance at a brighter future with responsible, caring new owners.

Last year, they cared for 11,707 dogs across the UK and Ireland, rehomed 9,914 dogs, and helped deliver nearly one million meals to dogs in need through Fareshare foodbanks.

Your support helps them continue this vital work, especially as the cost of living crisis adds increased pressures for dog owners. The work of Dogs Trust is only possible with donations like yours. If you’re able to make a small contribution, I know they’d be incredibly grateful – and so would the dogs!

Thank you.

Day Twenty Seven - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust

We did it! 🌟
Through the wind, the rain, and the winter sun, Dylan and I have officially conquered our 99k for Canines challenge. This journey has been about so much more than just the distance; it’s been a tribute to the unconditional love, companionship, and loyalty that dogs bring into our lives every single day.
Walking these miles in Harley’s memory, with Dylan’s joyful spirit leading the way, has been truly soul-nourishing. But as we reach the finish line, my heart is with the thousands of dogs still waiting in Dogs Trust rehoming centres for a family to walk beside and a "forever home" to call their own.
Every donation you’ve sent helps turn those dreams into reality, providing food, warmth, and a second chance at love.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for following our stories, cheering us on, and for your generosity.

Day Twenty six - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust

At Dogs Trust, they believe every dog deserves to feel cherished, especially those navigating the world with a disability.
Dogs Trust "Underdogs"—those resilient souls who have been waiting for their forever homes for more than six months—need someone to back them all the way. Your support provides the safe environments, tailored training, and ongoing medical care they need to live life to the full.

By donating, you ensure that even the most vulnerable dogs receive the extra love and specialised attention they deserve.

Day Twenty Two - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust

On National Walk Your Dog Day, we find our grace,
A wagging tail, a rhythmic pace.
For every mile and muddy paw,
Is love in its most purest form.
So here’s to Dylan, and Harley’s light,
To bracing winds and skies so bright.
A walk that's more than just a trek—
A soul-deep bond that’s worth the step.

Day Twenty one - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust

Dylan and I are officially in the home stretch of our 99k for Canines challenge! 🐾 We set out for a longer walk today to tick off those last few vital kilometres, and crikey, did the weather keep us on our toes!
It started out with lovely dry, warm skies, but the heavens eventually decided to open, leaving us both absolutely drenched by the time we got home!  Despite being soaked to the bone, it feels so good to be outside. There’s something about the fresh air—rain or shine—that just leaves you feeling invigorated and reminds me exactly why we’re doing this.
We are so incredibly close to the finish line now! Every soggy mile we've conquered is a little step toward a brighter future for the rescue dogs at Dogs Trust.
If you’d like to help us reach our final goal, you can donate directly on my fundraising page. Thank you so much for sticking with us through the sunshine and the downpours—it means the world to us!

Day Twenty - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust

As we approach the final days of February, my heart is full reflecting on the miles Dylan and I have shared. We are so close to completing our 99k for Canines challenge, and every kilometre has been a tribute to the dogs we love and the ones still waiting for their second chance.
I wanted to share exactly how your kindness transforms lives at Dogs Trust. Whether it’s a few pounds or a larger gift, your generosity is a lifeline:
£1–£5: Provides vital training treats to help a rescue dog learn the skills they need for a forever home.

£25: Gift a cosy winter coat to help a vulnerable dog feel warm, safe, and cherished.

£34: Funds an urgent vet check and life-saving treatment for a dog arriving in distress.

£100: Supports emergency veterinary care for a heavily pregnant dog, ensuring both mum and pups have a safe start.

For every £1 you donate, 72p goes directly to frontline dog care, 27p helps us find more supporters, and 1p ensures everything is run safely and legally.

Thank you for walking this path with us. Your support means the world to me, to Dylan, Harley and to the thousands of wagging tails you are helping to protect.

Day Seventeen - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust

Lovely to be outside, the weather dry and bright. Though the air held a lingering winter chill.
Dylan was in his element, his joy overflowing as he raced through the trees and made new friends with so many playful dogs along the way. Seeing that pure, social happiness in him is the perfect way to mark another 8km conquered for our 99k for Canines challenge.
Today, we also celebrate the dawn of theYear of the Fire Horse—an energy that lifts us into motion and carries us forward with strength and speed. There was no better way to honour this new beginning than by losing ourselves in the beauty of the forest.

Day Sixteen - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust

There is so much joy in watching Dylan embrace his walks; he runs with such speed and freedom that I often wonder how many extra kilometres he actually covers compared to me! Seeing that happiness in him is a constant source of light.

We walked today on the final day of the Year of the Wood Snake—a year that brought endings I never expected and lessons I didn't ask for. It was a year that tested my patience, my strength, and my courage in ways I couldn't have imagined. But as the sun sets on that year, I feel a sense of peace. I am ready to step forward into the energy of the Year of the Fire Horse, embracing the new beginnings it holds.

Day Fourteen - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust

Today’s walk felt a little more emotional than most. Dylan and I are taking on this 99k for Canines challenge in loving memory of our dog, Harley, and I can feel his spirit walking right beside us every step of the way. 🐾✨
Harley was truly one of a kind—protective, fiercely loyal, and always the first to find the fun in any adventure. Even now, he continues to guide me toward my new purpose in life. I will be forever grateful for the lessons he taught me and the love he provides.
We are now another 4km closer to our target! Thank you all so much for following our journey and for your incredible support for Dogs Trust.

11th February

Day Eleven - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust

Thank you for following our journey.

Today was one of those 'weathered' days—a bracing walk in the wind and rain that left us both a bit bedraggled, but it hasn't dampened our spirits for the 99k for Canines challenge.

I've quietly reflected on a new tradition
Dylan has started. Every night, he joins us on the bed to wander into "storyland" during the kids' bedtime stories. As the kids get lost in the pages, Dylan finds his own peace, often drifting into a deep, contented sleep beside them. It feels as though he knows exactly where he’s needed. I often wonder if he gets just as much enjoyment from the magic of the stories as the kids do. It’s these quiet moments of connection that make walking in the rain worth it.

Today we braved the elements hoping to raise money so that dogs can find a warm bed and a story to fall asleep to.

10th February

Day Ten - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust.

Some days, you feel a sadness that you can’t quite explain. But dogs have an incredible, quiet wisdom; they sense the shifts in our hearts long before we do.
Dylan saw me on the sofa and simply snuggled next to me, resting his head on my knee. We stayed there in the stillness for a while—no explanations needed, just his steady presence grounding me. Then, he looked up with those big, soulful brown eyes, a silent invitation that seemed to say,"Let’s go for a walk."

And we did. Between his comfort and the fresh air, the sadness began to lift. It’s a beautiful reminder of why I'm so grateful for the bond we share. Nature provides the space to heal, but dogs provide the heart to get us there.

9th February

Day Nine - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust.

I'm truly loving this 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust. Today’s journey was a little slower and much more meaningful, as I had my toddler along for the adventure.
It wasn't our longest walk, but we’re learning that the joy of a walk isn’t measured in miles—it’s measured in the fun you have along the way. Between jumping in puddles, throwing Dylan’s favourite toy, and sharing endless laughs, it was a beautiful reminder of why we do this.
A dog doesn't care how far you go; they just want to be part of the pack, exploring the world by your side. These moments of pure, simple connection are exactly why I’m raising funds—so every dog can find a family to splash through puddles with.

8th February

Day Eight - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust.

Today was all about the joy of a family walk—filled with new discoveries, endless exploring, and a perfect picnic along the way. There is something so special about finding a new path to wander; it keeps the spirit of adventure alive for all of us. We’ve definitely found a new favourite spot, and we can’t wait to come back and do it all again.

7th February

Day Seven - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust.

Yesterday, Dylan and I took it slow, turning our walk into a gentle training session. As we work toward becoming a certified Therapy Dog team, these moments in nature are so important. I love mixing our adventures with a bit of learning, always letting Dylan guide the pace. It’s never just about the 'commands'; it’s about listening to him and nurturing the deep bond that will one day help us bring comfort to others.

6th February

Day Six - 99k for Canines challenge.

Every donation you give helps a dog find the life they deserve. Since losing my beloved Harley, I have searched for a way to honor his memory, and I truly believe I have found my purpose: helping dogs who need us most.
Dogs are incredible; even those who have suffered through abuse or neglect still carry so much love in their hearts. With time and kindness, they learn to trust again, and I want to be part of that healing journey. My mission starts here, raising vital funds for Dogs Trust so that every abandoned dog can find a path back to love.

Thank you.

5th February

Day Five - 99k for Canines challenge for Dogs Trust.

Dogs have a magical way of grounding us, teaching us to find peace in the present moment through their unconditional love. They don't just live with us; they walk beside us through every season of life, always providing the right kind of light exactly when we need it most.

4th February

Day Four of 99k for Canines challenge.

What an honour it is to share our lives with dogs; they are the ultimate guardians of our hearts. With a single look into those soulful eyes, they offer exactly what we need—whether it’s a spark of joy, a quiet moment of comfort, or the steady presence of a loyal companion.

There are so many incredible souls currently waiting in shelters for a chance to give this love back. If you are looking for a companion to nourish your spirit and share in life's adventures, please consider adopting from Dogs Trust. When you rescue a dog, you aren't just giving them a home—you’re gaining a devoted friend who will spend every day proving that you were the one they were waiting for.

3rd February - Snowflakes danced around us.

With a few snowflakes dancing around us, we braved the winter chill. There is something so restorative about bracing that winter air, it clears the mind and warms the spirit. But the best part of having a dog is after a cold trek, trading the snowflakes for the glow of a toasty fire and well-earned snuggles.

2nd February - Day Two

One of the greatest gifts of sharing your life with dogs is the map of adventures you draw together, tracing old paths like familiar memories and discovering new ones with fresh wonder.
Every step we take side by side is a quiet conversation, a nourishing of our souls that deepens the golden bond only a human and dog can share. While nature provides the healing space, while our dogs provides joyful spirit that grounds us in the beauty of the present moment.

1st February - Magical Imbolc day

Day one of twenty-eight. As Dylan and I step out into nature, every pawprint is a heartbeat for the 99k for Canines challenge. Today is Imbolc, the sacred midpoint where the earth begins to stir from its winter slumber. 🐾
The land may still look bare, but in the stillness, we paused and heard it: the first soft whispers of spring quickening beneath the surface. Just as nature prepares to bloom, we are walking to bring new hope and fresh beginnings to dogs in need.
