I’m raising money in memory of my soulmate puppy, Duke.
Hi, I’m Amber.
For eight years, Duke was my best friend, my shadow, and my constant through so many chapters of my life. Anyone who knew me knew Duke. He wasn’t just a dog, he was family.
He was the first to greet me when I came home and the last face watching from the window as I left. No matter what kind of day I’d had, he always made it better.
Duke had a huge personality packed into a little furry body. He was a complete foodie who believed every meal belonged to him and insisted on supervising anything happening in the kitchen. He was equally convinced he was a qualified builder, overseeing every DIY project or home improvement job, usually while getting in the way.
He was wonderfully stubborn. Sometimes he’d sit down in the middle of a walk because he’d decided we were heading in the wrong direction. If Duke wanted to go to the field, we were going to the field.
He loved everyone. Every person was a friend and every puppy was someone he wanted to meet. When he felt anxious, he carried around his favourite furry teddy bear, a sight I’ll treasure forever.
He gave the best cuddles, the slobberiest kisses, and the kind of unconditional love that only a puppy can give.
Losing Duke was one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through. We lost him to cancer, but that’s not how I want him remembered.
I want people to remember his wagging bum (he didn’t have a tail), muddy paws, teddy bear, love of food, stubborn adventures, and the joy he brought wherever he went. Most of all, I want people to remember how completely a puppy can change your life.
To honour Duke’s memory, I’m taking on a 100-mile challenge. My goal is to raise money for rescue and adoption charities, helping more dogs find loving forever homes and giving more families the chance to experience the special bond that Duke brought into my life.
The money raised will support puppies and dogs in need through rescue efforts, veterinary treatment, vaccinations, food, shelter, rehabilitation, and the journey to safe, loving forever homes. Every donation will help give vulnerable animals a second chance and allow more families to experience the love and companionship that Duke gave me every day.
Although Duke is no longer by my side, the love he gave me never left.
