Dogs Trust Fundraiser

Hiking Tails 61km Treck for Dogs Trust

I’m taking on a personal challenge of walking 61km from Peterhead to Dyce in one continuous effort, expected to take around 16 hours, to raise money for Dogs Trust.

I’m a dog walker and the owner of Hiking Tails, where I spend my days working with some truly incredible dogs—many of them rescues who have gone on to find their happy, loving homes. Working with rescue dogs is something very close to my heart. Seeing them grow, build confidence, and become the dogs they were always meant to be—finally having the happy, safe lives they deserve—brings me so much joy.

Animals have always been my biggest love, especially dogs. Being part of their journeys, particularly those who have had difficult starts in life, is something I’ll never take for granted.

Hiking Tails was originally started because of my partner’s dog, Enzo, who sadly didn’t get to live the full life he deserved due to the result of bad breeding and being mis-sold by a breeder. That experience is something that has always stayed with us and is a big part of why I care so deeply about doing things the right way for dogs.

Alongside all of this, I’ve always loved being outdoors—trekking, hill walking, and long-distance walks are something I naturally enjoy. So taking on this challenge felt like the perfect way to combine something I love with a cause that means so much to me. If pushing myself through 61km can help even one or two dogs get closer to the life they deserve, then it’s completely worth it.

Dogs Trust is an outstanding charity that works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs across the UK, always putting their welfare first and giving them the second chance they deserve.

This walk will be tough, but it’s nothing compared to what many of these dogs have been through. Any support—whether that’s a donation, sharing the page, or simply cheering me on—really does mean the world.

Thank you for helping make a difference 🐾💛

🐾 61km for Dogs Trust – The Beginning 🐾

So… here we go.

I’ve officially committed to walking 61km from Peterhead to Dyce in one go—around 16 hours on my feet—all to raise money for Dogs Trust.

Dogs have always been at the centre of my life, and through Hiking Tails I’m lucky enough to work with some incredible dogs every day—many of them rescues. Watching them go from difficult starts to becoming happy, confident dogs is something that never gets old, and it’s a huge part of why I’m doing this.

Working with rescue dogs is something very close to my heart. Seeing them learn to trust again and finally enjoy life the way they should have always been able to means everything to me.

This challenge is also personal. Hiking Tails started because of my partner’s dog, Enzo, who sadly didn’t get the life he deserved due to bad breeding and being mis-sold. That experience has always stayed with us and is a big reason behind this.

I’ve always loved long walks, trekking, and being outdoors—but this is going to push me in a completely different way. 61km in one go will be tough, both physically and mentally, but if it helps even a few dogs get closer to a better life, it’s worth it.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing my prep, the route, and some of the amazing rescue stories from the dogs I work with. On the day, I’ll also be dedicating parts of the walk to them.

Thank you so much for all the support so far—it really does mean a lot 🐾💛
